Festival Baltimore Concert 1: Liszt vs. Thalberg — The Historic Piano Duel

Festival Baltimore opens its 2019 series in style as celebrated pianists Asiya Korepanova (Russia) and Mark Viner (Great Britain) re-enact the 1837 piano duel between Franz Liszt and Sigismong Thalberg — a historic exhibition of pianistic virtuosity and power.

The program features:

Sigismong Thalberg — Fantaisie sur des thèmes de l’opéra Moïse de Rossini, Op. 33
Franz Liszt — Grande fantaisie sur des motifs de l’opéra Niobe de Paccini, S. 419
Sigismong Thalberg — Fantaisie sur des motifs de l’opéra Lucrezia Borgia de Donizetti, Op. 50
Franz Liszt — Réminiscences de l’opéra Robert le diable de Meyerbeer, S. 413
Sigismong Thalberg — Grand Caprice sur des motifs de La Sonnambula de Bellini, Op. 46
Franz Liszt — Réminiscences de l’opéra Don Juan de Mozart, S. 418

UMBC is located about 10 minutes south of the Inner Harbor along I-95. For this event, free visitor parking is available in Lot 8, directly adjacent to the Performing Arts and Humanities Building, where Linehan Concert Hall is located — please see here for additional information.
