Fine Arts Recital Hall

5610467991_2c5a33d258_zThe Fine Arts Recital Hall is located on the first floor of the Fine Arts Building.

The Recital Hall hosts a large number of events each semester which can range from international contemporary music groups, to solo faculty performances, to classical vocal ensembles, and is also the location of panel discussions, guest lectures and occasional dance and visual arts performances. The Fine Arts Building is home to several performing arts and visual arts spaces including Studio 508, a sound recording and music performance studio; Studio 317, a dance performance space; the Hallway Gallery, a small gallery that showcases student work (located on the first floor); and the Center for Art, Design and Visual Culture.

Events held in the Recital Hall often require an admissions charge, but are typically free for students and free with a UMBC ID. Student recitals and performances by UMBC student ensembles are free (pricing for each event is located in their listing). Tickets may be purchased on the day of the event in the Recital Hall Lobby. Ticket purchases made at the door are cash only. ATM’s are located in the University Center and The Commons (see map). Tickets purchased via MissionTix should be printed prior to arrival on campus, and presented at the door.

For discounted pricing and free ticketing at the door, students and UMBC community members should bring appropriate ID.

All ages are permitted to performances.

For events in the Fine Arts Building, we have made arrangements with campus parking services for free evening parking in Lot 8. As with all lots, free parking is available in Lot 8 on Saturday and Sunday, all day. To get to Lot 8, proceed either way around Hilltop Circle until you reach Hilltop Road, and then take Hilltop Road toward campus (toward the construction site). Take an immediate left into Lot 8 and park.

General metered visitor parking is also available in the Administration Drive Garage, located near the Administration Building. Meter fees are $.25 for each 15 minutes, quarters only, maximum time of 5 hours. Pay and display visitor parking in the Walker Avenue Garage is $2.00 per hour and payable by MasterCard, Visa or exact currency (no change provided).

Fees are not enforced on University observed holidays. (Parking Services does not guarantee that change will be available on campus, but there are change machines in the parking garages.)

Generally, campus roadways and non-visitor parking lots require UMBC permits Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Permits are enforced year round.

A printable parking map is available here.
